Making Desktop Shortcuts

Application Shortcut

To make an Application Shortcut:

  1. Go to the windows button on the bottom left of your screen
  2. Go to Programs and scroll until you find the application you are looking for
  3. Then you want to right click and drag the icon of the application you would like to make a shortcut with
  4. In the context menu select "Create shortcut here"
  5. That will create a shortcut for that program on your desktop.
  6. Right click the icon and select "Rename" to give it a meaningful name

Web Browser Bookmark Shortcut

To make a Web Browser Bookmark Shortcut:
  1. Open your favorite Web browser
  2. Load the web page you would like the shortcut to take you
  3. Then click the middle button on the top right of the web browser (this will size down the browser exposing the desktop)
  4. Next look to the left of the web address or URL and left click and drag that icon to the desktop
  5. This will create a shortcut to that web page on your desktop
  6. Right click the icon and select "Rename" to give it a meaningful name
